Progressiv Matrices. Methods for diagnosing intelligence. The Progressive Matrices Test PMT is designed to diagnose the level of intellectual development and assesses the ability to systematic, sustainable, methodical intellectual activity (logical thinking). We managed to create a test which would be theoretically well-founded, well interpreted, and which assessment would be minimally dependent on differences in people’s education, background and life experiences. There are several versions of the tests which cater for adults and children as well.
The version of the PMT test given here is for adults (age range 14-65 years).
Test instructions
Now you will be offered a number of graphic drawings. There are 60 of them in total. In each individual drawing, in the upper half of the sheet, there is a rectangle with a certain background or composite elements (figures) connected by some relationship. In the lower right corner of the rectangle there is a cutout – a free, empty space. Under the rectangle there are 2 rows of fragments (six or eight), which are exactly the same shape and size as the rectangle cutout. Each suggested fragment has a different pattern. Your task is to find the one in the series of fragments that would exactly fit in the free space. The implication assumption for the correct solution is logical reasoning about the law of drawing in a rectangle, the empty space of which you must fill.The time for solving 60 tasks is limited to 20 minutes. Don’t waste too much time to complete the first few items, as the difficulty of the test increases all the time.

Low scores should always be considered less reliable than high scores.
